Lakshmi Bai grew up listening to the rhythm of the loom — her family has been weaving in Pochampally, the heartland of Ikat textiles, for four generations. She learned to weave at age twelve, and today runs her own small workshop where she trains young women from her village in the art of resist-dyeing and handloom weaving.

Her work is characterized by bold geometric patterns and a refined color sense rooted in the natural landscape of Telangana. Each piece she creates can take anywhere from three days to three weeks, depending on the complexity of the pattern — a testament to the unhurried intelligence of handcraft.
